How to: Run ScanDisk every time Windows starts.
Solution:
Right-click the 'Start' button. Select 'Open'. Double-click 'Programs', then double-click the 'StartUp' folder. Select the 'File' menu, select 'New', and select 'Shortcut', and create a shortcut for ScanDisk.
1) Right-click the 'Start' button. (A pop-up menu appears.)
2) Select 'Open'. (The 'Start Menu' window appears.)
3) Double-click the 'Programs' icon and then double-click the 'StartUp' folder icon. (The 'StartUp' window appears.)

4) Select the 'File' menu, select 'New'. (A submenu appears.)
5) Select 'Shortcut'. (The 'Create Shortcut' dialog box appears.)
6) Type the following in the 'Command Line' box:
SCANDSKW.EXE
7) Click 'Next'.
8) Type the following shortcut name in the 'Select a name for the shortcut' box.
SCANDISK
9) Click 'Finish'.
10) Select the shortcut icon and select the 'File' menu.
11) Select 'Properties'. (The 'ScanDisk Properties' dialog box appears.)

12) Click the 'Shortcut' tab.
13) In the 'Target Box', type a space after the command line and add one or more of the following:

a) To specify the drive(s) to be checked, type the following:
<drive>:
(where '<drive>:' represents the letter of the desired drive).
b) Type one or more of the following switches:
1] Type /A to check ALL local, fixed hard drives.
2] Type /N to start and close ScanDisk automatically.
3] Type /P to prevent ScanDisk from correcting any errors.
EXAMPLE 1: C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\SCANDISK.EXE C: /P /N
(ScanDisk will check drive C:, will not correct any found errors, and will close when it is finished.)
EXAMPLE 2: C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\SCANDISK.EXE C: D:
(ScanDisk will check both drives C: and D:)
